Monday Happenings:
Game 7 of the 2024 NHL Finals became the first best-of-7 NHL Finals Game 7 in which the road team tied the game 1-goal-all after the home team opened the scoring; in the previous nine best-of-7 NHL Finals Game 7 in which the home team opened the scoring, the home team also tallied the second goal of the game. The Florida Panthers win their first NHL championship through their Game 7 victory.

In-Game Comeback of Spring 2024:
On Sunday 28 April, the Vancouver Canucks trailed their host Nashville Predators by two goals as late as 17:10 into the third period, but prevailed. In the history of best-of-7 NHL playoff games from 1939 through 2023, inclusive, road teams down two goals as late as 17:10 into the third period had a game record of only 2-548 (.00364) - the Vancouver Canucks thus achieve a grade-A (.000 - .099) in-game comeback in that context. The only two previous winners in that situation were the Philadelphia Flyers (over the Maple Leafs in Toronto, in Game 4 of their 1977 NHL Quarterfinals series) and the Anaheim Ducks (over the Stars in Dallas, in Game 6 of their 2014 NHL Preliminary-round series). The Vancouver Canucks trailed the host Nashville Predators by one goal as late as 19:51 into the third period but prevailed. In the history of best-of-7 NHL playoff games from 1939 through 2023, inclusive, road teams down one goal as late as 19:51 into the third period had a game record of only 2-563 (.00354) - the Vancouver Canucks thus achieve a grade-A (.000 - .099) in-game comeback. The only two previous winners in that situation were the Chicago Blackhawks (over the old Phoenix Coyotes in Phoenix, in Game 2 of their 2012 NHL Preliminary-round series) and the Los Angeles Kings (over the Ducks in Anaheim, in Game 1 of their 2014 NHL Quarterfinals series).
