Post-series assessment: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Dallas Mavericks 4-games-2 in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1109. With the series 1109 victory, the San Antonio Spurs improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 25-16 overall and 7-1 in the Preliminary round; with the series 1109 loss, the Dallas Mavericks see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 8-13 overall and 4-4 in the Preliminary round. The win order for the victorious San Antonio Spurs in series 1109 was LWWWLW: Series 1109 thus becomes the first NBA Preliminary-round series, the ninth NBA series (all rounds), and the 40th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow such a win order to series completion. In series 1109 Game 6, the San Antonio Spurs held the visiting Dallas Mavericks to eight first-quarter points. Those eight first-quarter points by the visiting Mavericks tie a record for fewest first-quarter points in a best-of-7 NBA playoff game, set in series 63 by the old Chicago Stags in Washington against the old Capitols (in Game 4 of their 1947 NBA Semifinals series ... the first-ever best-of-7 NBA playoff series) and tied in the shot-clock era in series 518 by the Utah Jazz in Los Angeles against the Lakers (in Game 1 of their 1988 NBA Quarterfinals series).
