Post-series assessment: The San Jose Sharks defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-games-1 in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1099. With the series 1099 win, the San Jose Sharks improve their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 11-12 overall and 2-7 in the Quarterfinals (ending a three-series Quarterfinals losing streak). With the series 1099 loss, the Detroit Red Wings lower their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 53-39 overall and 10-7 in the Quarterfinals (ending a three-series Quarterfinals winning streak). The victorious San Jose Sharks have posted a WWWLW win order in series 1099: Series 1099 thus becomes the 15th NHL Quarterfinals series, the 44th NHL series (all rounds), and the 74th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. In series 1099 Game 1, the host San Jose Sharks erupted for three goals within 79 seconds en route to a 4-goals-3 victory.
