After Game 7: Winning Game 7 on the road, the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 82-pts-72 for a 4-games-3 victory in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1177. With the series 1177 win, the Los Angeles Clippers improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the NBA Preliminary round. With the series 1177 loss, the Memphis Grizzlies see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the NBA Preliminary round. The series 1177 win order for the victorious Los Angeles Clippers was WLWWLLW: Series 1177 thus becomes the first NBA Preliminary-round series, the fifth NBA series (all rounds), and the 13th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. The Los Angeles Clippers thus advance to meet the San Antonio Spurs (winners of series 1174) in series 1180, in the 2012 NBA Quarterfinals. Series 1177 is the last series in the 2012 NBA Preliminary round to be concluded.
After Game 6: The Memphis Grizzlies visited and defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 90-pts-88 to force MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1177 to a decisive Game 7 in Tennessee. The Los Angeles Clippers have a Game 7 record of 0-1, having lost in Phoenix to the Suns in series 983, in the 2006 NBA Quarterfinals. The Memphis Grizzlies likewise have a Game 7 record of 0-1, having lost in Oklahoma City to the Thunder in series 1147, in the 2011 NBA Quarterfinals.
