SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: The Golden State Warriors visited and defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-pts-97 to complete a 4-games-2 best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1283 victory. With the series 1283 win, the Golden State Warriors improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 11-10 overall and 2-0 in the Finals round. With the series 1283 loss, the Cleveland Cavaliers see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 13-9 overall and 0-2 in the Finals round. The win order for the victorious Golden State Warriors in series 1283 was WLLWWW: Series 1283 thus becomes the first NBA Finals-round series, the eighth NBA series (all rounds), and the 34th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. The 2015 NBA champion Golden State Warriors and the 2015 NHL champion Chicago Blackhawks won their respective Finals via the same win order: WLLWWW; 2015 thus marks the first spring playoff season in which both the NBA and NHL champions won their respective Finals rounds via the same win order since 2008, when the NBA champion Boston Celtics and the NHL champion Detroit Red Wings won their respective Finals via a WWLWLW win order.

After Game 5: The Golden State Warriors hosted and defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 104-pts-91 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1283 lead of 3-games-2. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 6-1 and a Game 6 record of 6-1. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a series record of 0-5 and a Game 6 record of 1-4. Series 1283 marks the 32nd time that a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series saw the leading team (Golden State) post a win/site order of WLLWW @ HHVVH through five games. The last team to do so: The Golden State Warriors, against the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2015 NBA Quarterfinals - in series 1279.

After Game 4: The Golden State Warriors visited and defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 103-pts-82 to tie best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1283 at 2-games-all. When tied 2-games-all in a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 5-4 and a Game 5 record of 5-4, while the Cleveland Cavaliers have a series record of 5-5 and a Game 5 record of 6-4. Series 1283 Game 4 marks the fourth time in best-of-7 NBA playoff series history, the first time in such history since series 941 (in the 2005 NBA Preliminary round by the Boston Celtics against the Indiana Pacers), and the first time in a best-of-7 NBA Finals series that a team trailing 2-games-1 won Game 4 on the road by twenty or more points. With their series 1283 Game 4 win, the Golden State Warriors have posted a WLLW @ HHVV win/site order through the first four games of the 2015 NBA Finals: In the NBA, teams posting such a win/site order have won seven consecutive series (the last to do so but lose - the Boston Celtics, in the aforementioned 2005 NBA Preliminary round, against the Indiana Pacers in series 941). The 2015 Spring best-of-7 playoff season marks the fourth time in six Spring best-of-7 playoff seasons that both the NBA and NHL Finals are tied 2-games-all after four games.

After Game 3: The Cleveland Cavaliers hosted and defeated the Golden State Warriors 96-pts-91 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1283 lead of 2-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a series record of 5-1 and a Game 4 record of 3-3. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 3-7 and a Game 4 record of 6-4. The sole Cleveland loss when leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1 occurred in series 1112, to the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Quarterfinals; the loss snapped a five-series winning streak in that situation. The Golden State Warriors trailed series 1279 (in the 2015 NBA Quarterfinals to the Memphis Grizzlies) 2-games-1 but rallied for the series victory, thus snapping a six-series losing streak upon trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1.

After Game 2: The Cleveland Cavaliers visited and outlasted the Golden State Warriors 95-pts-93 in overtime to tie best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1283 at 1-game-all. When tied 1-game-all in a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 7-6 and a Game 3 record of 5-8, while the Cleveland Cavaliers have a series record of 4-3 and a Game 3 record of 3-4. Series 1283 Game 2 is the 34th best-of-7 format NBA Finals-round game to go to overtime, and, since the 33rd was series 1283 Game 1, the 2015 NBA Finals become the first best-of-7 format NBA Finals series in which both Games 1 and 2 required overtime for a decision.

After Game 1: The Golden State Warriors hosted and bested the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-pts-100 in overtime to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1283 lead of 1-game-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 8-3 and a Game 2 record of 3-8. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a series record of 3-7 and a Game 2 record of 4-6. Golden State trailed Cleveland 29-pts-19 after the first quarter of series 1283 Game 1 but won the game. In the history of best-of-7 NBA playoff games since 1946, inclusive, home teams down ten points after one quarter had a game record of 13-27 (.325). With the series 1283 Game 1 victory, the Golden State Warriors extend their best-of-7 NBA Game 1 winning streak to five games.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2014-15 NBA regular season, the Golden State Warriors finished 14 games ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers. From 1947 through the 2015 NBA Semifinals, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by 14 regular-season games, they have posted a best-of-7 playoff series record of 17-0 (1.000) in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1283 is the 21st best-of-7 NBA playoff series for the Golden State Warriors, and the 22nd for the Cleveland Cavaliers. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, the Golden State Warriors have an all-rounds series record of 10-10, a Finals-round series record of 1-0 (via a sweep), and a Game 1 record of 11-9 (with an active four-Game 1 winning streak), while the Cleveland Cavaliers have an all-rounds series record of 13-8, a Finals-round series record of 0-1 (swept), and a Game 1 record of 11-10. Series 1283 is the first best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
